social impact
comes
in Czechia
to refugees
The global online learning platform provides refugee learners with access to
over 12,000 courses and specializations
from leading universities and companies, including Stanford, Duke, Illinois, Google, IBM and Microsoft.
Courses are available in numerous languages, including nearly 5,000 courses in Ukrainian, and thousands in other languages pertinent to refugee communities, including Arabic, Spanish and Russian.
Learners can also develop soft skills in personal development, management and other areas of personal interest.
At the completion of a course,
learners receive an official certificate.
Learning through Coursera caters to the unique needs and schedules of learners, with flexible course options and studying made possible at their own pace.
Courses can also be downloaded and completed offline for those without stable connectivity.
Eligibility requirements for the programme are:
Being a refugee, asylum-seeker
or stateless person in Czechia
Being 16 years or older
The roll-out of Coursera Social Impact for refugees in Czechia complements ongoing efforts by the Government, UNHCR and partners to enhance access to higher education for refugees, asylum-seekers and stateless persons. This initiative offers FREE quality courses, which would otherwise require fees of up to CZK 25,000.
It also supports refugees’ access to suitable employment opportunities by equipping them with valuable skills and expertise, and in turn, supporting their integration efforts.
UNHCR is particularly proud of the effect that Coursera Social Impact is expected to have on the lives and prospects of refugee youth, including those not in education, employment, or training.
By investing in refugees' professional and personal development, Coursera Social Impact offers a positive mechanism for learners to upskill their capacities, experience positive mental health outcomes, gain confidence and continue to make valuable contributions to their communities and the local economy.
